Fáilte go suíomh idirlíne Scoil Náisiúnta Mhuire Gan Smál (Ballygar). Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and we hope that you enjoy learning about our school!
Ballygar N.S. is a co-educational school located in the village of Ballygar, Co. Galway. We are a Catholic school under the patronage of the bishop of Elphin, although our ethos is strongly inclusive. Children of all religions or none are greatly welcomed.
Our school provides a secure environment where all members of our school community are treated with dignity and respect. Furthermore, with care and empathy, each child is encouraged and enabled to reach their unique potential. As teaching professionals, we set high standards and we work hard to conscientiously support each child academically and socially.
We presently cater for 82 students (September, 2024). We have a strong focus on improving literacy, numeracy and ICT skills through dynamic and exciting learning experiences for our pupils. In recent years, we have also placed a greater emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and have been awarded a number of Awards of Excellence for Science and Maths.
We also pride ourselves as an active school. Our school grounds include numerous playing fields and nearby local amenities include the Mattie McDonagh Centre and Aghrane Woods. Our school enjoys a fine sporting tradition, especially in Gaelic Games. Today, our students participate in a very broad array of sports ranging from Athletics, Swimming to Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie.
